Students must complete a minimum of four GLG Branch courses (12 credits), including at least one of the following: GLG 424: Petrology or GLG 435: Sedimentology and Stratigraphy. If students take both GLG 424 and GLG 435, one will count toward the Tier 1 requirement, while the other will satisfy a Tier 2 branch course requirement. Branch courses may not double count as GLG or SES electives; however, students who take more than four branch courses can apply additional courses toward GLG or SES Upper-Division Electives.

Science and Society Requirement: All students pursuing a BS or BSP degree in The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences must complete two courses from the Science and Society list found at https://thecollege.asu.edu/student-resources/science-society. At least one of the two courses must be upper division and students must earn a C or better in the courses. Both Science and Society courses (i.e., all six credits) may count towards any major, minor, related fields, and ASU General Studies requirements.
