All baccalaureate degree students must fulfill university graduation requirements, including a minimum of 120 credit hours, with at least 45 credit hours in upper-division courses.

All undergraduate students must complete General Studies requirements.

Mathematics Placement Assessment score determines placement in first mathematics course.

Students should work with their academic advisor, and consider course prerequisites, in order to complete all degree requirements in four years.

ASU Language Placement: Only true beginners are eligible for 101-level courses. All other students are required to take a placement exam, regardless of prior credit earned.

If planning on law school, review the Pre-Law website and prepare to take the LSAT in your junior year.

Consider participating in an Undergraduate Research Experience through the School of Historical, Philosophical and Religious Studies or a research opportunity in the Humanities Lab.

Consider participating in an internship to gain valuable career experience and contacts. For help exploring internship opportunities related to your major, meet with an academic advisor.

Many General Studies requirements can overlap with major requirements, leaving more room for electives. Consult an academic advisor to select the best courses for your personal plan of study.

Not all courses in the course lists are available every term or available in both on-campus and online formats. Students should consult Class Search prior to each term to confirm course availability.

General Studies designations listed next to courses were valid for the 2026 - 2027 academic year. Please refer to the course catalog for current General Studies designations at time of class registration.
