In the Master of Science in Technology program with a concentration in aviation management and human factors, you gain professional skills and be exposed to educational theory and practice for use in leadership positions in the aviation industry. Management and leadership positions at airports of all sizes require skills in labor management and policy, economics and analysis, national aerospace structure and aviation law, as well as an awareness of unmanned systems and flight operations. If you're interested in the human systems and safety area, you find exceptional use of educational discussions on human performance and the human limitations and capabilities as they relate to working within a complex system.
Courses are offered at ASU's Polytechnic campus, with some offered as iCourses.
This program may be eligible for an Optional Practical Training extension for up to 24 months. This OPT work authorization period may help international students gain skills and experience in the U.S. Those interested in an OPT extension should review ASU degrees that qualify for the STEM-OPT extension at ASU's International Students and Scholars Center website.
The OPT extension only applies to students on an F-1 visa and does not apply to students completing a degree through ASU Online.

This program allows students to obtain both a bachelor's and a master's degree in as little as five years. Accelerated bachelor's plus master's degree programs are designed for high-achieving students who want the opportunity to share undergraduate coursework with graduate coursework to accelerate completion of their master's degree. These programs feature the same high quality curriculum taught by ASU's world-renowned faculty.

Students typically receive approval to pursue the accelerated master's during the junior year of their bachelor's degree program. Interested students can learn about eligibility requirements and how to apply.

Required Core (3 credit hours) Concentration (6 credit hours) Track Coursework (12 or 15 credit hours) Restricted Electives (3 or 6 credit hours) Culminating Experience (0 or 3 or 6 credit hours) Additional Curriculum Information Students have the opportunity to enroll in human systems engineering (prefix HSE) and technological entrepreneurship and management (prefix TEM) graduate courses. Students may focus their study on courses that best prepare them for their career or for the next step in their education. Applied project students complete 15 credit hours (five track courses), and thesis students complete 12 credit hours (four track courses) selected in consultation with an advisor. In addition, three credit hours of AMT elective coursework are chosen in conjunction with the student's advisor or committee. Students who do not select a track must complete 15 or 18 credit hours from the restricted electives list or other courses approved by their supervisory committee. All students in the aviation management and human factors concentration must take at least five AMT graduate courses. Students who choose the portfolio option must demonstrate a high level of mastery of the principles and practice of aviation management and human factors through a compilation of work completed during the course of their graduate study. While the specific details depend on the student's specialization, all portfolios must describe three notable projects or academic accomplishments that illustrate the evolution and advancement of the student's technical expertise and mastery of the field of aviation management and human factors. The submission must include a written document with an overview of the graduate experience and descriptions of projects presented in the portfolio.

Applicants must fulfill the requirements of both the Graduate College and the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering.
To be considered for admission to the program, applicants must have earned a bachelor's or master's degree in a STEM field from a regionally accredited institution.
Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 (scale is 4.00 = "A") in their first bachelor's degree program or in the last 60 hours of their first bachelor's degree program, or a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 (scale is 4.00 = "A") in nine credit hours of graduate coursework from a U.S. institution or an applicable conferred master's degree program.

Additional Application Information
An applicant whose native language is not English must provide proof of English proficiency regardless of their current residency.
Unofficial transcripts may be submitted at the time of application. If admitted, applicants must then submit official transcripts to ASU Graduate Admission Services.
If the applicant does not meet the minimum GPA requirements, the application may still be considered. In certain cases, aptitude demonstrated through professional experience or additional postbaccalaureate education is considered.

Program term definitions
Accelerated programs allow students the opportunity to expedite the completion of their degree.
Accelerated master's
These programs allow students to accelerate their studies to earn a bachelor's plus a master's degree in as few as five years (for some programs).
Each program has requirements students must meet to be eligible for consideration. Students typically receive approval to pursue the accelerated master's during the junior year of their bachelor's degree program. Interested students can learn about eligibility requirements and how to apply.
Concurrent degrees allow students to pursue their own personal or professional interests, earn two distinct degrees and receive two diplomas. To add a concurrent degree to your existing degree, work with your academic advisor.
Joint programs, or jointly conferred degrees, are offered by more than one college and provide opportunities for students to take advantage of the academic strengths of two academic units. Upon graduation, students are awarded one degree and one diploma conferred by two colleges.
