Prepare to support and advocate for individuals with diverse learning and behavior needs.

Description

The minor program in behavior analysis offers you a strong foundation in the principles of applied behavior analysis, equipping you with research-based knowledge and practical skills to address behavioral challenges across diverse settings. This program emphasizes the science of behavior change, preparing you to apply evidence-based strategies that improve outcomes for individuals and communities.

This program meets the behavior-analytic coursework requirements for those pursuing the Behavior Analyst Certification Board® Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst® examination Pathway 2 eligibility route.

While the program supports your pursuit of the Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst® credential*, this minor is also highly relevant if you seek to enhance your professional skills in ABA without certification. You develop expertise to make meaningful contributions in various fields where behavior analysis is applied.

All courses are delivered online, and coursework for those who choose the campus-based options are also remote and asynchronous. Coursework combines a number of resources and technologies to provide you the opportunity to interact with program faculty and classmates.

*Attaining the BCaBA® credential isn't required. If you are interested in attaining the BCaBA® credential, you must meet additional requirements.

Career opportunities

A minor can help students enhance the marketable skills they acquire in their major program and earn additional certifications and industry credentials.

Program graduates are well prepared to work across various populations and settings --- including home, industry, clinic, school and community environments --- where they provide applied behavior analysis and evidence-based consultative services and support for children, youth and adults.

Professionals with expertise in evidence-based practices in behavior analysis are in high demand. Career examples include:

  • Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst®
  • early interventionist
  • Registered Behavior Technician®
  • special education teacher
Professional licensure

ASU programs that may lead to professional licensure or certification are intended to prepare students for potential licensure or certification in Arizona. Completion of an ASU program may not meet educational requirements for licensure or certification in another state. Program term definitions

Accelerated programs allow students the opportunity to expedite the completion of their degree.

Accelerated master's

These programs allow students to accelerate their studies to earn a bachelor's plus a master's degree in as few as five years (for some programs).

Each program has requirements students must meet to be eligible for consideration. Students typically receive approval to pursue the accelerated master's during the junior year of their bachelor's degree program. Interested students can learn about eligibility requirements and how to apply.

Concurrent degrees allow students to pursue their own personal or professional interests, earn two distinct degrees and receive two diplomas. To add a concurrent degree to your existing degree, work with your academic advisor.

Joint programs, or jointly conferred degrees, are offered by more than one college and provide opportunities for students to take advantage of the academic strengths of two academic units. Upon graduation, students are awarded one degree and one diploma conferred by two colleges.

ASU adds new programs to Degree Search frequently. Come back often and look for the "New Programs" option.

ASU Online offers programs in an entirely online format with multiple enrollment sessions throughout the year. See https://asuonline.asu.edu/ for more information.
