The BS in nutrition program includes exploration of important emerging topics, including developing an evidence-based online presence through social media, blogging and podcasting; creating stand-alone businesses in nutrition, such as individual practices and consulting programs; and entrepreneurship in the food industry through development of new products and services.
Experiential learning is integrated into the program's curriculum; students have opportunities to work with external stakeholders and community partners specializing in food and nutrition entrepreneurship to gain real-world experience, develop professional relationships, and establish a foundation and direction for their future careers.
This program prepares students to work in the expanding field of food and nutrition related entrepreneurial ventures and program initiatives. Graduates are poised to meet within food and nutrition industries the demand for the application of valid nutritional concepts.

Students pursuing concurrent degrees (also known as a “double major”) earn two distinct degrees and receive two diplomas. Working with their academic advisors, students can create their own concurrent degree combination. Some combinations are not possible due to high levels of overlap in curriculum.

Global experience
In the field of nutrition, study abroad can expose students to unique health environments and expand students' knowledge of culturally specific health approaches. Students gain a deeper understanding of how food and culture intertwine and how to communicate nutritional and sanitary standards to a diverse audience. Students' resumes are enhanced with the heightened communication, cultural competency and critical thinking skills they acquired through study abroad.

Nutrition graduates are prepared for careers within companies looking to innovate, in the delivery of products and services, in research and development, in management of food service and sustainable food systems, and in nutrition and health communication and promotion. They have the capabilities to launch startups and businesses focused on individual practice, consulting, and new product and service development. There are a wide array of career opportunities available for graduates of this program.
What are accelerated programs?
Accelerated programs allow students the opportunity to expedite the completion of their degree.
3 year programs
These programs allow students to fast-track their studies after admission and earn a bachelor's degree in three years or fewer while participating in the same high-quality educational experience of a 4-year option. Students should talk to their academic advisor to get started.
Accelerated master's
These programs allow students to accelerate their studies to earn a bachelor's plus a master's degree in as few as five years (for some programs).
Each program has requirements students must meet to be eligible for consideration. Acceptance to the graduate program requires a separate application. Students typically receive approval to pursue the accelerated master’s during the junior year of their bachelor's degree program. Interested students can learn about eligibility requirements and

What are concurrent programs?
Concurrent degrees allow students to pursue their own personal or professional interests, earn two distinct degrees and receive two diplomas. To add a concurrent degree to your existing degree, work with your academic advisor.
What are joint programs?
Joint programs, or jointly conferred degrees, are offered by more than one college and provide opportunities for students to take advantage of the academic strengths of two academic units. Upon graduation, students are awarded one degree and one diploma conferred by two colleges.

What is the Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE)?
The Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) is a program in which residents of western states (other than Arizona) may be eligible for reduced nonresident tuition. See more information and eligibility requirements on the

Accelerated bachelor's plus master's degree programs are designed for high-achieving undergraduate students who want the opportunity to share undergraduate coursework with graduate coursework to accelerate completion of their master's degree. A rolling deadline means that applications will continue to be reviewed on a regular basis until the semester begins. International students should be mindful of visa deadlines to ensure there is time to produce necessary visa documents. Applicants are encouraged to complete and submit application materials as soon as possible for consideration.
A final deadline means that all applications and application materials must be received by Graduate Admissions by the deadline date. Applications that are incomplete may not be considered after the final deadline. Applications that are submitted past the final deadline may not be considered.
A priority deadline means that applications submitted and completed before the priority deadline will receive priority consideration. Applications submitted after the priority deadlines will be reviewed in the order in which they were completed and on a space available basis. An application is complete after all materials are received by Graduate Admissions.
This program may be eligible for an Optional Practical Training extension for up to 36 months. This OPT work authorization term may help international students gain skills and experience in the U.S.Those interested in an OPT extension should review ASU degrees that qualify for the STEM-OPT extension at ASU's International Students and Scholars Center website. The OPT extension only applies to students on an F-1 visa and does not apply to students completing the degree through ASU Online.
