Are you interested in managing world-class resorts and hotels? Develop the business and management skills needed to oversee hospitality operations in destinations across the globe. You'll learn how to create exceptional guest experiences, manage sustainable operations, and lead teams in one of the world's largest industries.
In the Bachelor of Science program in tourism development and management with a concentration in resort and hotel management, you prepare for leadership roles in the accommodations sector. The program emphasizes guest services; operations; the integration of lodging, food and beverage management; and sustainable business practices.
You explore how resort and hotel systems function and how collaboration among suppliers, vendors, guests and community stakeholders shapes the hospitality industry. Coursework combines classroom learning with applied experiences, including internships and professional engagement opportunities.
Through these learning experiences, you develop the knowledge and skills to promote innovation, quality service and responsible management across resorts, hotels and related hospitality organizations.

Accelerated bachelor's plus master's degree programs are designed for high-achieving students who want the opportunity to share undergraduate coursework with graduate coursework to accelerate completion of their master's degree. Future tourism professionals need to develop an understanding of how and why people travel to destinations around the world, and they need to know how to share the local environment with visitors. When studying abroad, students gain valuable field experience and immersion in various destinations worldwide. Internships for credit in resort and hotel leadership are available in countries in Europe, Oceania, Latin America and elsewhere.
A variety of job opportunities are available for resort or hotel professionals, including entry-level management trainee, assistant manager or manager in various departments, such as:
- catering and banquet
- convention sales
- front desk
- guest services
- rooms division
- sales and marketing
Graduates are also well positioned to pursue career pathways in hospitality consulting, event coordination and destination management organizations.

Program term definitions
Accelerated programs allow students the opportunity to expedite the completion of their degree.
Accelerated master's
These programs allow students to accelerate their studies to earn a bachelor's plus a master's degree in as few as five years (for some programs).
Each program has requirements students must meet to be eligible for consideration. Students typically receive approval to pursue the accelerated master's during the junior year of their bachelor's degree program. Interested students can learn about eligibility requirements and how to apply.
Concurrent degrees allow students to pursue their own personal or professional interests, earn two distinct degrees and receive two diplomas. To add a concurrent degree to your existing degree, work with your academic advisor.
Joint programs, or jointly conferred degrees, are offered by more than one college and provide opportunities for students to take advantage of the academic strengths of two academic units. Upon graduation, students are awarded one degree and one diploma conferred by two colleges.
