Before taking the upper-division Teacher Education (TEL) courses, students must successfully complete first-year composition, math, TEL 111, BLE 220, SPE 222, and the history survey courses (HST 100, HST 101, HST 109 and HST 110). In addition, students must have a cumulative ASU GPA of 2.00 or higher. |

Students must apply for an Identity Verified Print (IVP) DPS fingerprint card, required by state law for participation in internships in 6-12th grade schools, ideally in the sophomore year or at least one semester before planning to start the upper-division Teacher Education (TEL) courses. Students must have a valid IVP fingerprint card in order to participate in the teacher preparation internship and student teaching courses. |

Students must submit an online Placement Request Form for each semester that they will be enrolling in the upper-division Teacher Education internship and student teaching courses (TEL 310, TEL 366, TEL 332 and TEL 488). Meet with your academic advisor to discuss enrollment in upper-division TEL courses. |

Students must pass the NES Secondary Professional Knowledge Exam to obtain secondary education teacher certification in Arizona. Completing this exam prior to student teaching is highly recommended. |

TEL 488 Student Teaching
